The Liberia Revenue Authority has officially launched Taxpayer Appreciation Month 2026 under the theme: From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion-Dollar Budget. The initiative recognizes the crucial role of taxpayers in driving Liberia’s development and sustaining national progress.
Speaking at the launch, Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah described the occasion as a defining moment of national pride and collective achievement.
He emphasized that the activity is not solely about the Liberia Revenue Authority, but about the contributions of ordinary people including market women, small business owners, professionals, and corporate entities who have chosen compliance, integrity, and national interest.
“It is with deep respect and a profound sense of national pride that we gather to celebrate the taxpayers of Liberia, who remain the central force behind our journey from aspiration to achievement.” Commissioner General Jallah stated.
In 2025, the Liberia Revenue Authority recorded a historic performance, collecting approximately US$818 million in domestic revenue by exceeding its target of US$804.6 million.
CG Jallah further noted that this milestone represents the second consecutive year of record-breaking revenue collection, with combined growth over 2024 and 2025 surpassing the total increase recorded over the previous thirteen years.
“These figures represent more than revenue, they translate into roads being paved, schools strengthened, healthcare supported, and opportunities created for the Liberian people.” He added.
Commissioner General Jallah highlighted the ambitious US$1.1 billion domestic revenue target for 2026, calling on all taxpayers and stakeholders to sustain the momentum.
He urged citizens and businesses to strengthen compliance, promote transparency, and reinforce trust between taxpayers and the state, noting that every tax contribution is an investment in Liberia’s shared future.
As part of efforts to deepen recognition and engagement, the LRA has expanded the celebration from a Taxpayer Appreciation Week to a month-long nationwide program, ensuring that taxpayers across all counties and communities are acknowledged for their contributions.
The month-long planned program will feature a series of nationwide activities, including stakeholder engagements, a student tax day, public awareness campaigns and recognition events aimed at promoting voluntary compliance and strengthening the partnership between tax and taxpayers.
Speaking when he officially launched the Taxpayer Appreciation Month at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville, O. Natty B. Davis, President of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, underscored the importance of tax payment in supporting national development programs.
He stressed that taxpayers play a critical role in shifting the country’s future by fulfilling their tax obligations for government to equally ensure service delivery and drive national development programs.
He described process as not just a civic duty but a share national commitment of balance of accountability between the government and its citizens.
Mr. Davis lauded the LRA for the expansion of this year’s celebration beyond Montserrado County, indicating that the approach is vital in enhancing general participation and decentralization.
Assistant Commissioner Isaac Stevens disclosed that this year’s taxpayer appreciation earmarked activities will focus on recognizing taxpayers as key partner in national development aimed at promoting voluntary tax compliance nationwide.
