Welcome to the Liberia Revenue Authority’s website. This is an official Government System, and a review our privacy policy. Our privacy policy explains how we handle the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) that you provide to us when you visit us online to browse, obtain information, or conduct a transaction. PII includes information that is personal in nature and which might be used to identify you.

Non-Personal Information includes information that cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information may be collected, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, preferences you submit and preferences that are generated based on the data you submit and number of clicks.

The LRA uses this website to provide information about LRA services and programs. This website includes specific applications which provide more services or enable us to respond to specific questions from Taxpayers and website visitors.

We won’t collect personal information about you just because you visit this website. Some applications on this website provide you with the opportunity to order forms, ask questions requiring a response, sign up for electronic newsletters, participate in focus groups and customer surveys, or learn the status of filed returns or anticipated payments. Using these services is voluntary and may require that you provide additional personal information to us. Providing the requested information implies your consent for us to use this data in order to respond to your specific request.

        1. Information we may collect:

All personal information you provide to us is voluntary.  We may collect personal information about you (such as name, email address, Social Security number, email, National ID Number/Passport Number/Alien ID, Date of Birth, Income, Employer, Address, Phone Number, Profession, Bank Account, Business Ownership, Property, Citizenship, Source of Income, social media which you submit to LRA when using the LRA’s systems or other unique identifier) only if you specifically and knowingly provide it to us.  We will use your information to process requests for certain services or information.  Providing your information is generally voluntary, but if it is not provided, we might not be able to process your transaction. 

2. Why we collect personal information:

     We collect Personal Identifiable Information and other non-personal identifiable information only as necessary to administer our programs. The information you provide will be used only for that purpose.  We do not sell the information collected at this site or any other information we collect.  You do not have to give us personal information to visit our website.

3. How we use personal information:

      Throughout our website, we will let you know if the information we ask you to provide is voluntary or required.  By providing your personal information, you give us consent to use the information only for the purpose for which it was collected.  We describe those purposes when we collect information.  We will ask for your consent before using the information you provide for any secondary purpose other than those required by the laws of the Republic of Liberia.

4. Information collected through Technology:

     To access LRA’s services, you will be required to register. However, in an effort to improve the quality of the Service, the LRA tracks information provided by your browser or by LRA’s software applications when you view or use the Service, such as the website you came from (known as the “referring URL”), the type of browser you use, the device from which you connected to the Service, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you. The LRA tracks this information using cookies, or small text files which include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to a user’s browser from LRA’s servers and are stored on the user’s computer hard drive. Sending a cookie to a user’s browser enables LRA to collect Non-Personal information about that user and keep a record of the user’s preferences when utilizing the LRA’s services, both on an individual and aggregate basis. LRA may use both persistent and session cookies; persistent cookies remain on your computer after you close your session and until you delete them, while session cookies expire when you close your browser.

5. Information you provide by registering for an account:

       In addition to the information provided automatically by your browser when you visit the Site or Systems, you will need to register and create a personal profile. You can create a profile by registering entering your Personal Information and a password. By registering, you are authorizing us to collect, store and use your details in accordance with this Privacy Policy and other statutory provisions or laws enacted by the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.

6. Non-Personal Information:

     LRA uses Non-Personal Information to improve the Service and customize the user experience. The LRA also aggregates Non-Personal Information in order to track trends and analyze use patterns on the Systems. This Privacy Policy does not limit in any way our use or disclosure of Non-Personal Information and the LRA reserves the right to use and disclose such Non-Personal Information to partners, government agencies and other third parties according to this privacy policy and the statutory provisions cited below.  In the event we undergo a business transformation such as introduction of a new system, your Personal Information may be among the assets transferred. You acknowledge and consent that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy and other statutory provisions or laws enacted by the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia, and that any acquirer of our assets may continue to process your Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy and other statutory provisions or laws enacted by the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia. If our information practices change at any time in the future, we will post the policy changes to the Systems for your consumption.

7. How we protect information:

       We implement security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access. Your account is protected by your account password and LRA urges you to take steps to keep your personal information safe by not disclosing your password and by logging out of your account after each use. By using the LRA’s Systems, Sites and access Services, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to assume these risks. You also accept responsibility not to disclose your TIN and tax information to suspicious individuals or for nonofficial reasons.

8. Your privacy right:

       The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of Liberia’s taxpayers. These rights are protected by various Statutes which includes but not limited to; the Liberia Revenue Code, pursuant to Section 54 (Confidentiality Of Tax Return Information), Section 55 (Records), Section 93 (Willful Violation of Information-Collection Obligation), the Executive Law, pursuant to Section 83.1 (Power of Government Agency to collect information); Section 83.2. (Confidential nature of information furnished).

9. Links to other Websites:

       As part of the Service, LRA may provide links to or compatibility with other websites or applications. However, the LRA is not responsible for the privacy practices employed by those websites or the information or content they contain. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by LRA through the Site and the Systems. Therefore, this Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of a third party website accessed by selecting a link on our Site or via our Systems. To the extent that you access or use the Service through or on another website or application, then the privacy policy of that other website or application will apply to your access or use of that site or application. The LRA encourages taxpayers to read the privacy statements of other websites before proceeding to use them.

10. Changes to LRA’s Privacy Policy:

    LRA reserves the right to change this policy and Terms of Service at any time. The LRA will notify you of significant changes to the Privacy Policy by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account or by placing a prominent notice on the site. Significant changes will go into effect 30 days following such notification. Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately. You should periodically check the Site and this privacy page for updates.
