Monrovia, June 3, 2024 – A dedicated team from the Liberia Revenue Authority’s (LRA) Taxpayer Services Division has successfully concluded a ten-day tax awareness campaign across western Liberia. This initiative aimed at educating and engaging taxpayers in Bomi, Cape Mount and Gbarpolu on various tax types and compliance requirements.
Throughout the campaign, the LRA team conducted extensive tax education sessions with a diverse group of stakeholders, including taxpayers, key business stakeholders, owners of residential properties, market women, and other citizens. The primary focus areas included real property tax payments, general compliance for petty traders, and guidelines for small and medium-sized businesses. In addition to face-to-face engagements, the team utilized radio talk shows across Bomi, Gbarpolu, and Grand Cape Mount Counties to reach a wider audience, ensuring that vital tax information was accessible to all residents.
The LRA team further provided customer service training to its frontline staff at the Tax Business Offices in the three counties. The training was designed to enhance the interaction between tax agents and taxpayers, promoting a courteous and friendly approach in service delivery. The tax awareness campaign is part of the LRA’s ongoing efforts to foster revenue growth and promote tax compliance throughout Liberia. The LRA has a mandate to collect US$738.8 million this year to support the country’s budget. Creating nationwide tax education and awareness to boost compliance is one of the many ways the LRA is working to meet targets.
